Chris Tarrant picks a Winner!

Chris Tarrant is used to changing people’s lives by giving away huge sums of money of the programme Who Wants to be a Millionaire – but following the end of Pollyanna’s Christmas exhibition he made another lucky winner very happy when he selected the winning ticket in the Pollyanna Pickering Foundation prize draw for an original painting.

Thanks to the generosity of a supporter of the South Yorkshire Badger Group, we were able to hold a second Pollyanna Pickering Foundation prize Draw during 2009. The widow of Cliff Hutton, a long term supporter of the group donated a cherished painting ‘Into the Woods’ (above) to help raise funds towards badger conservation with the hope that the painting will be enjoyed by a lover of wildlife, while raising funds for this excellent cause. Pollyanna donated five runner’s up prizes of signed limited edition prints of the painting. The lucky winner of the original painting is Mr David Whiteway of Leicestershire. As Patron of The Badger Trust, Pollyanna is pleased to have this opportunity to help raise funds for one of their regional groups. All the SYBG’s funds are spent on the protection of badgers and their setts. Graham Shepherd told us “The cost of materials for this purpose is escalating at a frightening rate, so this unexpected donation is extremely welcome at this time.” Members of the local group actively participate in a variety of conservation projects aimed at protecting Badger Setts. These include the construction of artificial 'dig-proof' setts, physical protection of setts and a range of projects to assist farmers and landowners in the conservation of Badgers on their land.

The draw raised £2417.00 for the local group.
