Harrod's
Commissions Anniversary Designs

The world's most famous department store has comissioned Pollyanna
to paint a series of designs to commemorate a very special launch!
Each year Harrods produces a collector's bear, with the store
logo and date embroidered on the underneath of his paw. These
bears are much sought after, with the earliest of them now fetching
thousands of pounds at auction. This year, the 2005 bear is
due to become one of the most collectable of all - he is the
twentieth one to be released by the store. Following a series
of top secret meetings, Pollyanna completed several paintings
featuring the bear which will be used on the store's annual
Christmas range, as well as a unique twentieth anniversary range
of products. The painting shown here features all twenty of
the bears, with '2005' in the middle.
New in store, the range of gift ware now available includes
ten different tote bags, Christmas stockings, aporons, children's
bibs, three different china mugs, two designs of Christmas crackers,
a snow globe, a trinket box, christmas decorations, pencil cases,
tins of chocolates, and a 20th anniversary collectors plate.
"It has been something of a departure from my usual subject
matter" Pollyanna commented " but great fun to work
on, and of course it really is an honour to be asked to design
for this anniversary launch. I originally trained in Graphics
and Illustration, as well as fine art, so I guess my college
lecturers would be pleased to know that I am still putting some
of my training to good use!"
Pollyanna has been commissioned to paint exclusively for the
Harrods gift ware department for several years, and many items
can currently be found in their in-store Arcade, as well as
their airport outlets and store in Japan - where the bag featuring
Pollyanna's West Highland Terrier even outsells the famous 'Green
and Gold' classic design. The new Christmas and Anniversary
ranges will start to appear in-store from August onwards. Meanwhile
Pollyanna has also completed further new work for the store
featuring her more usual subjects - five new paintings of Westis
will extend the existing range, and new gift ware featuring
a black cat will soon be released.
