Pollyanna in the High Arctic
The Foundation's 2002 Summer Appeal was once again a great
success, with over £3,700.00 raised through a percentage
of sales from the On Top of the World exhibition, donations,
and ticket sales in the prize draw. The Winner of the first
prize of an original painting was Mrs Edwards of Matlock, and
her picture was presented to her by Pollyanna.
The money raised was donated to purchase equipment for the
Born Free Orphan Polar Bear rescue project. Pollyanna has a
long standing association with the charity, having first travelled
to India to visit their project sites in 1990. The polar bear
rescue scheme based in Churchill is the only project which aims
to re-release orphaned polar bears back into the wild. Number
one of Pollyanna's brand new limited edition print featuring
polar bears was donated to be auctioned at the Born Free Foundations
annual gala evening to further boost their fund-raising.
The Pollyanna Pickering Foundation also joined with the Brigitte
Bardot Foundation to call for the immediate cessation of seal
hunting in Canada. Visit www.fondationbrigittebardot.fr/uk petition

"I am absolutely bowled over! What a fantastic contribution
you have sent to us following your exhibition 'On Top of the
World'. I know that Allison Hood, who runs our polar bear project
will be over the moon. Thank you very , very much from us all.'
