Pollyanna with Bill Jordan
The Foundation's 2003 major fund-raising campaign was linked
to Pollyanna's 'Around the World in Eighty Paintings' exhibition
and raised a total of £4575.00.
The population of Black Rhinos in Aberdare national Park in
Kenya has been brought to the edge of extinction by poachers.
The Rhino Ark project is aiming to make the National park a
completely safe refuge for the rhino, elephant and other animals
by erecting 260 kilometres of electric fence - this has the
additional advantage of keeping the rhino's away from the local
farmer's crops. Money is still needed to purchase the wire,
run the machine that makes the post, and erect the fence. The
fence posts, which are 6" thick and 10' tall are made directly
from waste plastic, thus recycling an otherwise harmful pollutant,
while protecting Kenya's much depleted forests.
International wildlife vet Bill Jordan is a founder trustee
of Rhino Ark, and Pollyanna agreed to support the project following
his recommendation. Pollyanna is honorary vice president of
the Bill Jordan Wildlife Defence Fund.

presenting the cheque to Rhino Ark Chairman Colin Church
and the Chief Warden of Aberdare National Park
Daniel Onsembe, on behalf of the Foundation.

friendly fence posts which our grant will help to purchase.
