The Eye of The Tiger

The Foundations first major project raised £5,500.00 which was divided between the Project Tiger reserves in India, to help the vital conservation of this highly threatened species, and the victims of the Gujurat earthquake. "Although the Foundation will primarily help Wildlife and the Natural World, I feel it is also important to alleviate human suffering where possible" Pollyanna said "When I have visited India, I have been overwhelmed by the friendliness and generosity of the people. So many lives were devastated by this dreadful earthquake - these things tend to be a seven day wonder in our newspapers, before another story pushes the tragedy of the front pages - but is now that the people affected really need our help to rebuild their lives".

In addition a letter writing campaign was initiated urging the Indian Prime Minister to give priority to Tiger Conservation. If you have not written already, please click here for further information, and add your voice to the call to conserve India's Wildlife. A petition of over 1,000 signatures was sent to the Indian Government in July 2001.

A Grand Prize Draw was held as part of the appeal, and Pollyanna was delighted to present the first prize winner, Mr Thorly of Cheadle in Staffordshire, with one of her original studies of two tigers.

"I am absolutely stunned by the magnificent cheque you have sent us following your
Eye of the Tiger appeal. It is absolutely wonderful of you to help us in this way, and I am sure you know how grateful we are"
