Model Preface for Pollyanna's Book!
Now that Pollyanna has passed the final proofs for A Brush
With Wildlife, due for release in November, we are pleased to
confirm that the preface for the book has been written by Twiggy
Lawson.
As 'the face of '66' supermodel Twiggy defined the look of
an entire decade. Now an actress she also has her own line of
skin care products. A great animal lover, Twiggy is patron of
the halcyon Haven Animal Sanctuary in Cumbria, and supporter
of the Wildlife Hospital in Bolton, and other local sanctuaries.
Because of this interest, she was fascinated by the story of
Pollyanna's animal sanctuary, the story of which is told in
the book. The book ends with a brief biography describing Pollyanna's
journey from the earliest struggles to become established, to
her current success as one of Europe's foremost wildlife artists.
Coincidentally, while looking through a folder of college work
to find some early pieces to illustrate this section, Pollyanna
came across this portrait of Twiggy , painted in the late sixties.
'I have no memory of completing this study' she commented 'but
I have obviously been inspired to capture the essence Twiggy's
beauty in a very simple picture. If someone had told me at the
time that she would one day write a preface for one of I my
books I would have been amazed!'
Twiggy describes the book as 'Funny, touching and beautiful',
writing that 'Anna-Louise takes us on an amazing journey with
the story of her and her Mother's extraordinary life with their
rescued wildlife.......... hopefully everyone who reads this
marvellous book will remember that our wildlife is very precious
and that we must be aware of its importance and fragility.'
Meanwhile Pollyanna is very honoured that the foreword for
the book has been written by respected naturalist, writer and
broadcaster David Bellamy, who is also president of the Hawk
and Owl Trust, and the Wildlife Trusts.
'I first met David back in the late eighties when I was patron
of an appeal for the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust' Pollyanna commented
' and found his enthusiasm and energy an inspiration. He has
done so much to promote the conservation of the wildlife he
loves'. David describes 'A Brush with Wildlife' as 'A superb
book.... which would make a wonderfully rich addition to any
art of nature-lover's library. Anna-Louise's text sparkles with
just the right touch of humour and her wonderful photographs
add warmth and realism.
Forewords for Pollyanna's previous books have been written
by film legends and animal lovers Brigitte Bardot, Virginia
McKenna, WWF conservation officer Stuart Chapman, and comedian
Billy Connelly.
