Variety Club Awards

Celebrities came out in force to support the 55th Varity Club showbiz awards, and Pollyanna and her daughter Anna-Louise were pleased to be among them as guests at the glittering ceremony at the London Hilton Hotel.

Comedian Lee Evans was the first recipient of the night, accepting a comedy award from The Office star Martin Freeman. Keira Knightley took a break from shooting her latest movie, The Duchess, to be named film actress of the year. Irish boy band Westlife were also on hand to sing their current single, and be crowned recording artists of the year. Glamorous Welsh soprano Katherine Jenkins accepted the classical performer prize from her friend the ballerina Darcey Bussell. Outrageous US talk show host Jerry Springer thanked the Variety Club for its "charitable" award as he accepted the international prize. Host Myleene Klass expressed regret that Sleuth star Jude Law could not be present to pick up his acting award.

Michael Parkinson was the final award recipient, being presented with the lifetime achievement award at this year's event, held in aid of the Variety Club Children's Charity.

Pollyanna is a longterm supporter of the Variety Club Children's Charity which has been helping sick, disabled and disadvantaged children for more than 50 years.
