Exhibition : A Brush with Wildife Venue : National Memorial
Arboretum Croxall Road Alrewas Staffordshire DE13 7AR
Details : Pollyanna will be staging
a display of work in the Long gallery of the Visitor Centre
of the National Memorial Arboretum, a spiritually uplifting
national site of remembrance to honour the fallen, and recognise
sacrifice. The Arboretum is a unique haven of peace, contemplation
and hope for the future. It consists of 150 acres of wooded
parkland within the National Forest in Staffordshire where visitors
can both enjoy and learn about the trees and their surroundings,
and reflect upon their special symbolism. With some 50,000 trees
already planted, and 200 dedicated memorials established on
the site, the Arboretum is a living tribute that will forever
acknowledge the personal sacrifices made by the armed and civil
services. For some it is a wonderful place to stroll and enjoy
the beauty of the trees; for others it's a peaceful and beautiful
place to remember loved ones, particularly those who made the
ultimate sacrifice for their country. Ten years since being
founded, the site now hosts an abundance of wild plants, woodland
areas, grassland, a reed bed and wetland. It is populated by
a variety of wildlife including brown hares, skylarks, lapwings,
otters, tits and finches, green woodpeckers, buntings and an
occasional black redstart. This makes it the ideal setting for
a display of Pollyanna’s artwork, and we are sure visitors
will enjoy her celebration of British wildlife.

A new limited edition ’Poppy Field’ (above) has
been published to mark this exhibition. It will be available
exclusively at the Arboretum until the end of March.
The Arboretum is open every day except Christmas Day between
9am and 5pm. You are welcome to visit the Arboretum free of
charge, although donations are welcomed to help with the maintenance
and upkeep of the site.
