Talk: Spirit of the Jaguar

Details : Anna-Louise is delighted to have been invited to return to the church to give the premiere of this brand new talk about her 2017 journeys into the little known Pantanal region of Brazil, where she travelled alongside Pollyanna braving extremes of heat and humidity, plagues of mosquitoes and crocodile infested rivers as they gathered photos, sketches and inspiration.

The duo were rewarded with over twenty sightings of the beautiful and powerful jaguar, the largest of South America’s big cats.  In this region jaguars can frequently be seen swimming in the rivers – and Pollyanna witnessed a heart stoppingly dramatic kill when a huge male jaguar stalked and wrestled a 2.5m long caiman just metres from her boat.

Pollyanna also spent several hours watching a female jaguar with a cub, and was able to sketch a wealth of other wildlife which can be found in the region – from giant river otters and other jungle cats, to the glorious bird life – including hyacinth macaws.

This is a fund raising evening for the church, and all are welcome! Tickets £5.00 including tea, coffee and cakes! Tickets may be available on the door, but advance booking is advised.  To book, or for further details Tel. 0115 9875605 or email [email protected]
