Anna-Louise Presents TWASI Awards

In her role as Patron of The Wildlife Art Society International Anna-Louise was delighted to be able to attend the final day of their annual exhibition to present their awards – in a specially socially distanced ceremony!  Due to the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions the ceremony took place outside – fortunately on a beautiful sunny day – in the lovely setting of the grounds of the Nature in Art museum in Gloucestershire.

Anna-Louise was especially pleased to hand over the Pollyanna Pickering Award For Conservation Through Wildlife Art to Jill Tisbury (left) for her fused glass artwork ‘Foraging Hedgehog’. The judges commented that they were pleased to see “a threatened species depicted in an unusual medium.

As part of the award the winner is able to nominate a charity to receive a £250.00 grant from the Pollyanna Pickering Foundation, and very appropriately Jill nominated the British Hedgehog Preservation Society.

The society is dedicated to helping and protecting hedgehogs – recently voted Britain’s favourite wild mammal, they have experienced a steep decline in numbers in recent years and are now classified as ‘Vulnerable to Extinction’. Find out more about their work at www.britishhedgehogs.org.uk
