Landscape Artist of the Year

Pollyanna was delighted – and pleasantly surprised! to have made the final shortlist of 12 artists for the ‘Landscape Painter of the Year’ for her atmospheric painting ‘By The Light of the Silvery Moon’!

Towards the end of 2016 Derbyshire Life launched a search to find the region’s most talented artists. Pollyanna is especially pleased to have been short-listed despite the fact that she is of course primarily a wildlife artist, and her landscapes provide the background settings for her detailed studies of animals. The magazine subsequently published a four page feature celebrating Pollyanna’s work in their June issue. The judges told us they received an impressive response to the call for entries saying “the range of entries illustrates not only the amount and diversity of artistic talent in the County, but also the inspiration provided by our varied local landscapes.” Jonathan Wallis, head of Derby Museums and Art gallery noted “It is great to see that Derbyshire’s rich heritage of landscape painting is alive and thriving in the work of contemporary artists”.

The painting, which features one of Pollyanna’s favourite subjects ‘Angel’ the Barn Owl, will be exhibited at Pollyanna’s forthcoming Diamond Exhibition in her own gallery in November. Angel is seen flying over a very typical Derbyshire scene – a tumbledown stone barn standing in frosty fields. The image has also been released as a limited edition print which will be available at the event, and can also be purchased through Pollyanna’s secure online gallery : click here for further details
