Memorial Tree Planted for Pollyanna

Pollyanna’s daughter and business partner Anna-Louise was honoured and moved to be invited to plant a memorial tree for Pollyanna in a special ceremony at the Willow Holt nature Reserve at Farndon, Notts last weekend. Pollyanna had been delighted to help with fundraising projects for the reserve, including the building of a new meeting hut to replace one which had been burnt down by vandals.

Anna-Louise said “Pollyanna would have been deeply moved and very honoured by this wonderful gesture. She was never happier than when her work could help support causes close to her heart. The planting of an oak tree is a perfect memorial – it will be a part of the natural landscape for hundreds of years – and support a wide variety of species of insects, birds and animals”

We would like to thank all who attended the event for their generosity – a collection on the day raised £128.55 for the Pollyanna Pickering Foundation. Special thanks go to Farndon Watch leader Sue Leach and her Mum Shirley Hatcher, and all those involved in organising the memorial and preparing for the tree planting.
