The Variety Club Awards
Anna-Louise was honoured to be invited to represent The Pollyanna Pickering Foundation at The Variety Club Awards at a star-studded evening of glamour at The Londoner Hotel in Leicester Square. The fundraising and awards event honours those who have made outstanding contributions to theatre, music, television, fashion and philanthropy. Anna-Louise commented “This was a very special year to be invited, as the awards celebrated their 75th anniversary”.
The Lifetime Achievement Award for Outstanding Contribution to Global Film and Television was presented to the inimitable Dame Joan Collins, while Gavin and Stacey actor James Corden was the recipient of the award for Outstanding Global Achievements in Broadcasting, Acting and Comedy. Other famous faces attending the event included national treasure Christopher Biggins (left with Anna-Louise), quiz expert Jenny Ryan – otherwise known as The Vixen on The Chase – model Abbey Clancy and her husband Footballer Peter Crouch. The evening was hosted by Amanda Holden (below) and entertainment was provided by singer Alfie Boe . Anna-Louise also congratulated the multi talented Sheriden Smith on her award for her Outstanding Contribution as an Actress and Singer .
Over the past 75 years, the Variety Club has given close to £1.6 billion in grants globally to help children who are disabled or disadvantaged, with hundreds of millions of pounds going to the 1.3 million disabled and 4 million disadvantaged children in the UK. The organisation is also responsible for setting up their famous Sunshine Coaches which are specially adapted minibuses catering to schools and other non-profit organisations working with disabled and disadvantaged children.
