Virginia McKenna Co-Signs Limited Edition Print

The exhibition ‘Spirit of the Jaguar’ held in Pollyanna’s private gallery 22nd – 30th June 2019 was originally scheduled to be staged in June 2018. Pollyanna had selected two of her paintings to be published as limited edition prints to be launched during the event. One of those pictures ‘Wild Nobility’ – was chosen to be the centrepiece of the primary fund-raising project for the exhibition.

We are delighted that actress and conservationist Virginia McKenna OBE – the founder of The Born Free Foundation – agreed to co-sign just ten of the limited editions alongside Pollyanna. These will be available exclusively at the gallery, and are bound to become much sought after collectors items.

The Exhibition will be raising funds to help rainforest wildlife in a very specific and immediate way. We want to help create a Shock Free Zone in the forests of Costa Rica. Each year there are more than 3,000 electrocutions of wildlife animals in Costa Rica. Dozens of mammals such as monkeys, sloths, anteaters, foxes, squirrels, as well as birds and reptiles are electrocuted daily on power lines.

Almost all the lines used in Costa Rica for the supply of electric service are aerial and are constructed with conductive materials without insulation (bare aluminium conductors). They are a permanent cause of electrocution risk for any living being that has contact to the power lines. The Shock Free Zone program consists of insulating transformers and electrical lines that are currently without insulation, specifically in the problem areas where the majority of accidents occur. Pollyanna was hoping to raise £2500.00 to install at least ten of the insulating transformers in the rainforest, and so help to protect some of the same species she so loved watching and sketching during her expedition to the Brazilian Pantanal.
