Pollyanna’s determination to paint only animals which she had observed in their natural habitats lead her into a remarkable and unique series of expeditions into some of the most inhospitable areas of the globe.
She has made numerous African safaris giving her unparalleled opportunities to study and sketch these big cats in their natural habitats. The field sketches she made inspired this painting of an adorable lion cub catching and playing with his Mother’s tail!
The Pollyanna Pickering Foundation actively supports big cat conservation internationally, and has helped fund pens for rescued lions at the Born Free Sanctuary in Shamwari. She has also given her support to Lionaid who are working to protect these cats in the wild. 20% of every lion picture sold will go directly to conservation projects.
